Managing Difficult Parents
Learning Activity
A key to protecting our wellness is establishing and preserving healthy boundaries with the people we interact with. "Boundaries" guidelines that we establish for our relationships with others that informs them of what we consider to be acceptable and unacceptable forms of behavior. While boundaries generally act to inform others of what we will not tolerate, for educators, setting and enforcing boundaries can act as a way "[defining] the limits of your role as a teacher - this profoundly influences your workload and ultimately your mental health". This is key in avoiding exhaustion and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.
For this activity, read through the pages items linked in the Resources section to learn more about setting boundaries between you and your students' parents and why this is important to your wellbeing.
