GarageBand: Using the Sampler
You can record (or sample) a sound using a microphone, or add an audio file, and then play it back like a melody on the Sampler keyboard. You can save samples to use in other GarageBand songs, and edit them in several ways.
To Open the Sampler - Tap the Browser button , swipe to the Keyboard, then tap the Sampler button.
To Record a Sample - Create a new sound sample. Position the microphone near the source of the sound you want to sample and tap the Start button. Tap the Stop button when you’re finished.
To Trim your Sample - Drag the handles on the left or right to trim the beginning or end of the sample.
To Play your Sample on the Keyboard - Play your sample on the keyboard. The pitch of the sampled sound goes up or down as you play higher or lower on the keyboard.
To Add the Sample to your Project - Tap the Record button and play the sounds you want to add to your project. Tap the Stop button when you’re finished.
