The main principle of the History-Social Science Framework is a focus upon student inquiry. Consistent with the frameworks in other subject areas, the History-Social Science framework relies upon students being active participants in the learning process. The framework is designed to help teachers and administrators create a curriculum where students ask questions, develop and support arguments, conduct independent research, evaluate interpretations and evidence, and present findings in a cogent and persuasive manner.
