Confidentiality
Learning Activity
All disability-related information including IEPs, documentation, and correspondence are considered confidential and need to follow all provisions of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). There is a separate FERPA module that covers ALL of the elements of FERPA. We are focusing on how it affects students with disabilities in our schools.
In additional to ensuring that our legal obligations are maintained, having a high standard of confidentiality helps ensure that our students with disabilities feel respected, safe, supported, and protected.
Read the articles to learn more about the confidentiality of student disability information and answer two scenarios about confidentiality.
