Successful BP-PBIS implementation involves five elements:

  1. Understanding the rationale for BP-PBIS implementation at the school.
  2. Developing students' understanding by establishing a positive school-wide social culture and teaching them about S.W.A.T. procedures.
  3. Developing adults' understanding of how to they should respond to instances/reports of bullying and how to conduct student BP-PBIS training.
  4. Collecting and monitoring data to determine measure if BP-PBIS in place (fidelity) and if the effort is effective (student outcomes).
  5. Providing advance advanced support to students/families who need more intensive support.

There are various tools and strategies available to help accommodate these elements such as self-assessments for staff, implementation checklists for PBIS teams, perception surveys for students to build consensus about the need for BP-PBIS, establishing a peer support group, tier-based interventions, etc.

Download the student perception survey linked in the Resources section. Distribute these surveys to your students to complete.
