Learning Activity

Empathy for others is something that can be difficult to have. If individuals are going through a lot of stress themselves, having empathy and understanding for others can be a tall order. In our classes, we can begin to help our students navigate this area to better promote positive relationships with their peers.

Watch the videos and then write a 3-4 sentence reflection on: What are some things you can start to do to promote an environment of empathy? What steps do you think you can take to improve your own sense of empathy?

Short discussion: Have a short discussion about empathy with your class. Provide 2-3 sentences on how the discussion went. Do your students know what it is? Do you think they find it easy or difficult relating to others and showing empathy?
